As Executive Director of Marshall Economic Development in Marshall, Texas, I had the opportunity to work with Carole Tam on a recent trade mission to Tokyo, Japan, and Taipei, Taiwan. Carole contracted with Day One Experts, a networking and consulting group for economic developers in Texas, to provide local information on the Japanese and Taiwanese business markets and investors. Carole worked with Day One Experts to set up meetings and tours with Japanese and Taiwanese companies and investor group contacts. Carole identified key groups of investors and businesses in both countries for initial connections, tours, and introductions for the team. I was able to reach a new international market with my local data regarding our region and key business strengths in these meetings. Carole actually provided translation for our group. Without this connection with Carole, it would be extremely difficult to make this outreach. Additionally, Carole provided information on local customs and was key to meeting several investor groups in private lunch and dinner settings. If you like sushi and other Asian cuisine, you’ll like Carole! Her first-hand knowledge of the historical, cultural, and business environments of both Japan and Taiwan is a big plus. I was pleased to get the information and contacts and for her continued advocacy of our region. I look forward to business engagements that Carole can assist with.
